The edited book on “Diseases of Pulses Crops and Their Management Approaches” made as covered different topics of nationally economic importance of diseases. An effort has been made to compile information on different aspects of diseases of pulses crops and their management. There is a record of huge losses of Pulses crops in terms of yield and quality, which is caused by different plant pathogens. It has been felt necessary to compile the information related to the problem of important Pulses crops of India and the management approaches. This edited book contents 13 pulses crops chapters contributed by different authors throughout the country. The book will helpful for the students pursuing their degree in Agricultural Sciences, growers, teachers, extension personnel’s and fellow researchers in their respective fields. This book will also helpful as a ready reckoner for the readers.
Dr. Pranab Dutta is a Associate Professor in Plant Pathology in the School of Crop Protection, College of Post Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences, Central Agricultural University, Umiam, Meghalaya. He served Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam, KVK-West Tripura (Now Khowai), CMER&TI (CSB) etc. He completed MSc and PhD in Biological Control and Post Doctorate training at FERA, York, United Kingdom. He has been actively involved in teaching, research and extension for the last two decades. He has published 100 research papers, 45 research abstracts, 13 proceedings paper, 81 popular articles (English, Bangla and Assamese), 22 training manuals/hand books, 36 book chapters, 9 practical manuals /teaching aids, 13 books (Edited, authored or co-edited). He is the recipient of fellow award of Society of Biocontrol Advancement (SBA)-2020, SBER-2020, ICPP-2018 Bursary award (The American Phytopathological Society, USA), DBT Overseas Associates (2012), meritorious contribution award in sericulture (CMER&TI, Central Silk Board, 2008)etc. Developed 15 bioformulations with native isolates, filled 5 patents and commercialized four bioformulation products. Pursued 16 externally funded project funded by DBT, DST, Osceola County, Florida, USA, (through CABI via University of Florida), PCIL, AYUSH, RKVY, BRNS, ICAR-NCIPM, Bayer Crop Sci etc. He is the life member of 10 professional societies and reviewer of 7 international and nationally reputed journals published by Elsevier, Springer etc. He is the Editor of Indian Phytopathology and Editor-In -Chief of Journal of Plant Health Issues. He has supervised 3 PhD and 11 MSc students as Major adviser and more than 100 students as member of advisory committee. His research area includes nanotechnology, biological control, ecotoxicology and plant defence.
Dr. Amar Bahadur is working as Asstt. Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, Tripura, Lembucherra, Agartala-799210. He did his Ph. D. in Mycology and Plant Pathology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 2004. He is Life Members of different society.Dr. Bahadur has published more than 30 research papers in International and National Journals and more than 15 proceedings and book chapters in edited book. He has been Principal investigator and Co-investigator in DBT funded research project. He has participated in several seminar/symposia/conference in national and international and also visited Thailand. He was Zonal President of NEZ (North Eastern Zone) in 2018 of Indian Phytopathological Society,IARI, New Delhi. Organizing secretary and organized a National Symposium in 2019. He has engaged in research, teaching and extension activities more than 15 years. He has awarded “Outstanding Scientist Award” in 2021 by VDGOOD Professional Association of India.
