Abstract

Progress of nanotechnology in recent years has brought new and innovative ideas in the field of agriculture ranging from crop production to crop protection. New concepts and new products are emerging in the area of crop protection including plant disease management. Nanoparticles with desired characteristics alone or in combination with existing plant protection chemicals are being researched upon to be used as protectant or eradicant pesticides through precise and targeted delivery. Nanoparticles of various metals, metalloids, metallic oxides, non-metals (single and composite), carbon nanomaterials are being explored against various pathogens. Most reports summarized here have been focused on the above-mentioned nanoparticles as fungicides or bactericides to protect plants and to enhance the plant growth.
