Abstract

Automatic detection and recognition of plant disease is the need of the hour and there has been a lot of research going on for the appliances of IoT in crop protection. These new technologies benefits in monitoring large fields of crops and helps to automatically detect the symptoms caused by a particular pathogen as soon as they seem to appear on plant parts, which are invisible to human eyes. Utilizing IoT, the farmers get early alerts from the device and thus can save their crops, resulting reduction in use of million tons of pesticides. IoT provides real-time monitoring, modeling, disease forecasting during the crop growth by means of various inexpensive sensor nodes, hence proving its effectiveness and allowing farmers to overcome the plant disease problem s by using these user friendly systems.
