Abstract

Information is the basic requirements for the development in all fields. Research institute needs information from various sources which are disseminated to the scientific community. The traditional system of communication takes longer time to disseminate the agricultural information to farmers. ICT and agriculture under the one common umbrella helps the farming community in various ways. ICT is an effective tool in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). ICT has improved the efficiency of data collection, analysis, pest identification, selection of management strategies and application of technologies in field. Many ICT tools are used among farmers to get the information as of their timely needs. ICT in plant protection involves crop pest surveillance, e-pest surveillance, pest forecasting, rodent management, Mobile App and Internet of Things (IoT) for pest management. ICT in plant protection at earlier stage helps to increase the crop productivity and to decrease the economic loss.
